Jim called the meeting to order at 6:03 pm
Minutes
Vicki made a motion to accept the minutes as written, adding Mary Ann as attending. Motion was seconded & approved by all.
Equipment Report
Jim has bee researching canoe covers and has found covers for $950 at Kiri Covers on Oahu. 6-8 weeks out due to supply issues. Purple is not available, so it was decided to go with grey. They may not be able to put the canoe covers on. Rami made a motion to purchase 2 canoe covers. The motion was seconded and approved by all.
New Business
Kai Opua’s Queen Liliuokalani race is officially cancelled.
Gov. Ige has reduced the gathering size to 25, so we will continue. To allow no more than 4 canoes going out at a time.
Mandates: Jim shared information that both vaccinated & non-vaccinated persons can spread and catch the virus. The information shows that vaccinated dont’ usually get as sick as non-vaccinated persons if they get the virus. Randy spoke to the Dept. of Health and they confirmed that even vaccinated persons can get the virus. The difference is that vaccinated that get the virus quarantine a shorter time than the non-vaccinated. At this time, we are not aware of any club member that got the virus. Randy made a motion that there will be no vaccination mandate for WCC. The motion was seconded and approved by all. Vicki would like to see masks reinstated, until the canoes are in the water. Jim will send out an email emphasizing that we are following County guidelines, if you are outdoor masks are not required but suggested, no more than 4 canoes going out, we are not mandating vaccinations, do not come to paddling if you are sick, maintain your distance from others, if you travel don’t come to paddling for 5 days.
Racing practice will continue indefinitely.
Cleaning of the shed: Tentatively looking at cleaning the shed in the next month or two. Will decide at the next meeting. Possibly have the club pay for lunch for volunteers.
Ordering hats: It was decided that Vicki will order 50 hats.
Bob offered to enter new photos on our website if anyone has any.
